today i went to Dickens World to meet George, the Pearly King of Peckham, his daughter, grand daughter and great grand daughter were all there too in their pearls. george was there to sign and promote his book and the others were there to support him, spread a bit of cockney cheer... and have fun in this most bizarre of modern history theme parks. i can't even begin to describe it here as i have a bath running and need to be out at 7... but have a look at the website. it is Dickensian London built in a a warehouse at Chatham docks, so absolutely no natural light and as I only have my Fisher Price model Canon i wasn't going to use it's flash so i put it at 800 ISO so the images are a bit noisy... and some were completely useless but it was a chance to experiment and see what if anything would come out. anyway when i arrived, one of the group wasn't wearing pearls and when i noticed the mamiya around her neck i took a leap of faith and asked if she was a student like me... turns out she is a student like all of us... Anna (the girl in the picture with George) is on the full-time MA at LCC and is doing her easter project on George and his family. George and I started laughing as it was funny, but I wasn't so sure that she found it so... so i showed her the fisher price. it was good to meet someone from the full-time course and hear what they have been up to. it made me quite envious of the photoshop courses they have and the more hands on technical things, but it also made me think what an amazing opportunity our group has being so spread out, and yet still being able be a real group.

Great you managet to take pics of the Parly king, I was so curious to see him after chatting about it. And extraordinary coincidence indeed. You can start a cross course group work on pearly stuff...
