Further to my London street research, I caught some old episodes of the Sweeney and noticed how well it was shot, in individual scenes the framing was quite pleasing... and often really creative using the strong graphic lines of buildings to set the scenes. If you click on the question mark you can see the credits, (I am sure there is a better way of doing this) typically I couldn't find any particularly good examples of my point, but if you get a chance to see an episode, it's worth a look for outdoor composition ideas... and driving tips...
